
Viqueque, Manufahi, and Ainaro, July 27–30, 2026 – The National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT), through the National Director of Exact and Natural Sciences, Mr. Valente Ferreira, together with the National and International Principal Investigator, continues to collect data for scientific research projects on the green economy in the municipalities of Viqueque, Manufahi, and Ainaro.


The main objective of this monitoring and coordination activity is to directly observe the progress of the research project’s implementation in the field through data collection, interviews, and observation. This activity also aims to ensure that the research is carried out as planned, based on methodology and ethical research standards, contributing to the development of scientific research in the green economy that the INCT will implement in fiscal year 2026, in conjunction with the National Principal Investigator and the International Researcher from Udayana University, Indonesia, under the title: “Municipal Irrigation Models in Timor-Leste”.

This research project was conducted in three (3) municipalities, namely:
• Municipality of Viqueque: Ossu Administrative Post, Loihunu Suco; Uatulari Administrative Post, Afaloicai Suco; and Uatucarbau Administrative Post, Irabin de Cima Suco.
• Municipality of Manufahi: Same Administrative Post, Betano Suco.
• Ainaro Municipality: Ainaro Administrative Post, Cassa Suco.


During the implementation of this activity, the research team conducted direct observations of the conditions in the study area, interviews with municipal authorities, administrative post authorities, local authorities and communities, and collected relevant data to support the scientific analysis on the development of suitable irrigation models for each municipality in Timor-Leste.

This research project benefited from the valuable participation and collaboration of the National Director of Exact and Natural Sciences of the INCT, Mr. Valente Ferreira, the National Principal Investigator, Dr. Benjamin Hoffer Martins and his team, the International Principal Investigators, Prof. Dr. They. Por Made Trigunasih and Prof. Dr. They. Nyoman Rai, as well as the Municipal Authority, the Postu Administrativu Authority, the Local Authority and the local communities in the research area.
